Josie Carr...

A multifaceted entertainment professional, she blends a rich background in music production and audio technology with a passion for education and creative innovation. A Brooklyn, NYC–born producer, electronic musician, recording engineer, performer, and independent business owner, she is also an adjunct professor at New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music.

She began her career through hands-on mentorship with established industry engineers and producers, quickly leading to projects for major and independent labels including Sony, Universal, Interscope, EMI, and Atlantic. Her credits include work with artists such as Bob Marley, Stuart Matthewman (Twin Danger), Jermaine Dupri, M.O.P., SWV, Toni Braxton, Tina Turner, Patti LaBelle, and Irene Cara. She co-owned Night Owl Studios a multimedia facility in Chelsea, NYC, where she served as head engineer and lead recording instructor, working with major labels, independent artists, and film and TV clients.

As an artist, she has written, produced, and performed alongside established names while leading her own electronic live band. Fluent in English and Spanish, her music crosses cultures and markets, reflecting her commitment to innovation and expressive storytelling. Her single “Wan’B Like Me” was featured in the HBO film Life Support, starring Queen Latifah, and she was recognized as one of the top female engineers on AllHipHop.com’s Lady Beat Makers Vol. 1.

She brings this same creative philosophy to her published works: Ableton Live: Unconventional Creative Approaches, Logic Pro’s Quick Sampler Made Simple, and Ableton Live’s Simpler Made Simple.
